Where junk hides
Windows piles up gigabytes unnoticed: update leftovers, app temporaries, browser cache and the recycle bin you never empty. Above 85% disk usage Windows can't defragment or page properly and everything slows down. Goal: get under 80%.
Disk Cleanup step by step
Type Disk Cleanup in Start, pick C: and click Clean up system files. Tick Windows Update Cleanup, Temporary files and Recycle Bin. On PCs untouched for years this alone recovers 5 to 20 GB.
Manual cleanup that matters
Go to Settings → Apps, sort by size and uninstall games, trials and toolbars you don't use. Then open Explorer, type %temp% in the address bar, select all (Ctrl+A) and delete: Windows won't let you delete what's in use, that's fine. Finish with old installers in Downloads (.exe and .zip you already used).
What NOT to delete
Don't touch Windows, Program Files or anything in System32 by hand. And distrust free "miracle cleaners": most install adware or charge you for what Disk Cleanup does free. If a program promises to "speed up your PC 300%", that's the first junk to uninstall.
When to call a technician
If space keeps disappearing after cleaning (128 GB drive genuinely full) or it fills back up on its own every few days, something may be generating junk nonstop or the disk may be failing. We look at it with you in the free diagnosis.

You either need a bigger disk/SSD, or something generates junk nonstop. We'll tell you which in the diagnosis.
